“In 20 years of birding around the world, and I have never encountered a better guide than Ciro Albano. He knows multiple locations for every key species, his ear is trained and sensitive, he carries clear recordings of multiple different vocalizations for every bird, and he has the passion and drive to work hard for shy species. I hope to bird with him again, and I recommend him without reservation.”

Ciro Albano was born and grew up in Fortaleza, the capital of the state of Ceará, in the heart of the Caatinga Biome. During his childhood he used to travel a lot through the countryside to closely follow his father in his nature photographic works; what turned him a nature enthusiast. This passion has made Ciro choose Biology as a profession, and the specialization on birds was his natural choice since he went to the University. In 2003, Ciro joined the NGO Aquasis to work with bird research and conservation.
He is a team member of the Conservation Projects of two critically endangered species (the Araripe Manakin and the Grey-breasted Parakeet). Ciro’s natural skills to identify bird calls and his knowledge of the NE Brazil birds drew the attention of other Brazilian Ornithologists and well-known Guides, and in 2006 Edson Endrigo and Ricardo Parrini contacted him to start leading tours in Northeast. By that time, he fell in love with the activity.
In his point of view this is the best opportunity to learn more and more about the birds of the region and try to find ways to help conserving them. He is also a bird photographer and enthusiastic for bird recordings. He is working with friends on a DVD, with photos and recordings of the all the Brazilian birds that occur outside the Amazônia.
He has chosen to be specialized and guide only in NE Brazil to really offer the best tours in the region, as he lives in the region and is almost full time in the field, his knowledge of birds here are not to be compared. He is able to organize an unforgettable trip to all sites in Northeast.
